Bontrager Rhythm Elite 29 Wheels

Trek and Bontrager have been in the news a lot lately with their new release of the Rhythm Elite 29 wheels. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a set and put them through their paces. Here’s what I thought.

The first thing you notice about these wheels is that they’re massive. The 29″ diameter and 50mm width make for a very wide footprint. That width, combined with the 32 spokes per wheel, makes for a very stiff wheel.

There’s no flex at all when you’re out of the saddle hammering up a hill or sprinting for the finish line.

If you’re looking for a quality pair of 29er wheels, the Bontrager Rhythm Elite should definitely be on your radar. These wheels are designed to deliver unbeatable performance and durability, and they certainly don’t disappoint. Here’s a closer look at what makes the Rhythm Elite so special.

To start with, the Rhythm Elite features an aluminum rim that is both strong and lightweight. This provides the perfect balance of strength and weight savings, making these wheels ideal for cross-country riding. The rims are also tubeless ready, so you can ditch your inner tubes for even lighter weight (and fewer flat tires).

The hubs on the Rhythm Elite are equally impressive. They’re made by DT Swiss, one of the most respected names in wheel manufacturing, and they feature sealed bearings for smooth rolling performance. The front hub is 100mm wide while the rear hub is 135mm wide, which is optimal for use with 29er bikes.

Spokes are always an important consideration when choosing new wheels, and the Rhythm Elite comes equipped with high-quality Sapim Race spokes. These round spokes have a great reputation for being strong and durable, yet still relatively lightweight. 32 spokes are used in each wheel (16 front/16 rear), providing plenty of support even when riding on rough terrain.

Finally, these wheels come equipped with Bontrager’s TLR (Tubeless Ready) system which makes it easy to set up your bike for tubeless riding (if you’re not familiar with tubeless setup, check out our helpful guide). Tubeless tires provide many benefits over traditional inner tube tires including lower rolling resistance, fewer flats, and a smoother ride quality. If you want to get the most out of your 29er bike, going tubeless is definitely the way to go!

All in all, the Bontrager Rhythm Elite 29 Wheelset is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high-performance upgrade for your cross-country bike. With top-notch components and construction throughout, these wheels will help you take your riding to the next level!
